Tulips Hommage A Fernand Mourlot

Six-color lithograph signed in the plate by Gilot and also signed by Eric Mourlot specifically for the Napier Gilot Exhibition. This work was supplied from the limited-edition colour lithographic print archive of Mourlet Editions in New York City. In addition to being signed in the plate by Gilot, it is also signed by Eric Mourlot, grandson of Fernand Mourlot, CEO and owner of Mourlot Editions, New York. It was acquired from Moutlot Editions in 2020 and signed by Mourlot, specifically for the Ferris State University and Creative Arts Napier exhibitions celebrating the 100th year of Francoise Gilot in 2021/2022 and the important relationship (spanning five decades) she had with master printers Fernand Mourlot and Jacques Mourlot. It comes complete with an impressive historical frame from the United States. This is one of only two limited edition lithographs of Tulips signed by Mourlot in the world. The other being in the possession of Ferris State University Gallery of Art, Big Rapids, Michigan. Tulips is the largest and one of the most important complex still life colour lithographs Gilot ever created, coming very late in her 80 year career as an artist, with an impressive paper size of 74.5×56.5cm in six colours.
