Through Children’s Eyes
Cathay Wicks and her Kids Art Club
Date: Jan 21 – Feb 4Space: Workshop
‘Through Children’s Eyes’ is an Exhibition by Cathay Wicks and her Kids Art Club.
All the children’s paintings on display feature NZ native flowers and birds.
Cathay Wicks was born in China and lived in Canada and US with her husband before moving to New Zealand in 2015. She has always been interested in art since childhood, and studied with professor Xu, learning many techniques using different media. She is also honoured to have had some of her artwork critiqued by Napier local artist Ion Brown.
Cathay prefers to work in watercolour and pencil drawing, but has studied and taught Chinese Calligraphy and Ink Painting.
Working in Early Childhood Education has encouraged Cathay to share her skills by establishing a children’s art workshop. The progression from learning basic drawing skills at the beginning of the year, to producing these wonderful paintings clearly shows the promising talent of the children she teaches. She is very proud to present this year’s result from her Kids Art Club.
Cathay believes children’s artworks about NZ native flowers and birds can also help raise environmental awareness. Support the children by coming along to view the results of their learning, and be inspired.
Cathay will be tutoring workshops for children on Wednesday and Thursday 26 & 27 January. To book a place please visit the workshop listing on the CAN website for the link to our booking website.
