Reclamation
by Murray Woodmass
Date: Jan 3 – Jan 31Space: Workshop
Murray’s artistic journey began just three years ago when he crafted a headboard and wine rack for his wife using recycled pallets. With leftover pieces, he decided to create a matching mosaic wall hanging, sparking a passion for woodworking that has since flourished. As well as artwork, his repertoire includes bookshelves, plant stands, pedestals, and wine racks for friends.
Selecting the right pallets is a mission for Murray; he enjoys finding varying thicknesses, colors, and unique features in the wood.
Living with Parkinson’s Disease for 15 years, Murray finds that creating wood art helps him maintain the dexterity and fine motor skills that the condition threatens to diminish. His craftsmanship not only serves as a creative outlet but also as a vital tool for his well-being.Through reclaiming wood from pallets, he is also reclaiming some of what Parkinson’s disease threatens to take away.
Opening night Friday January 17th 5-7pm.
