Whatever It Takes Trust (WITT)
Date: Sep 8 – Sep 21Space: Small Gallery
“This exhibition illustrates our artists’ journey towards enhanced mental health and wellbeing, through a collection of paintings, prints, textile art, nature craft, paper craft, pottery and weaving. These art works provide an insight into the potency of creativity as a means to support healthy ways of being, doing and knowing.” WITT
Whatever It Takes Trust (WITT) is a community based, peer support service organisation for mental health and addictions consumers who live in Hawkes Bay.
Tāngata whaiora from three community services that WITT operate have contributed to this exhibition;
Manaia House, a recovery centre where whaiora take part in programmes that are provided to enhance their lives, promote self-awareness and develop skills for independent living in the community.
The Lighthouses, day centres in Napier and Hastings where whaiora meet others, take part in group programmes, access support and information and share lunch in the company of others.
Contributors also include WITT kaimahi, who bring their own lived experience of mental health and addictions to the work they do, supporting others towards enhanced wellbeing.
