Phils’s Art’s

An Exhibition by Philip McMillan

Date: Feb 1 – Feb 28Space: Workshop

This exhibition by Philip McMillan is about the past and present of features that he has captured on his travels of time.

As he starts out on a new painting he imagines that he is there like time travel.  He mainly paints with acrylic paints and art to him is about relaxing and chilling out.

Philip is a self-taught artist who’s been painting since he was 18 years old, and lived and worked up at Tutira until he was 26. When he moved to Napier he stopped painting for a number of years but started again in about 1998. After Cyclone Gabrielle he got 10 of his paintings auctioned to raise money for the flood victims plus was approached by the Rissington community to paint the wooden statue which was auctioned off to raise money for its repair job. Phil paints with acrylics & oil – but mainly with acrylics now. He does paintings of buildings, trucks, birds, scenery, abstract, etc.
