Once Upon a Line

Date: Mar 7 – Mar 20Space: Main Gallery
Cap Jacobs has lived in New Zealand since 1986, which has provided him with a rich multi-cultural experience and artistic fabric that are in his soul and thus are in his art, while not deliberately an explicit part of his paintings. Abstract art has always had the greatest appeal for him.
Cap’s goal is to create visually-arresting, precision paintings. Currently he’s exploring compositions involving only straight lines and a single circle. This approach evolved over a short period of time – driven by the self-imposed restrictions placed on this series of paintings. Colour is very important to him.
Generally his paintings do not represent any particular objects or messages. Each Cap Jacobs painting is a visual presentation that seemed aesthetically interesting, perhaps quizzical, but always embracing life. He hopes the viewers find them equally so, and encourages them to respond with their own unique perspectives and interpretations.
