Living Again – A Swamp Kauri Experience

From the depths of time, buried beneath the earth for thousands of years, this ancient swamp kauri has been given new life. Rescued from the ashes of a private farm three decades ago, each piece has been meticulously carved by hand, revealing the rich history and untamed beauty of this rare wood.

In his first Hawke’s Bay exhibition, Ian Harlen invites you to witness the transformation of nature’s forgotten relics into breathtaking works of art. Once told he wasn’t cut out for woodwork—graded a mere D in school—Ian never let that define him. Instead, he has embraced his passion, proving that creativity knows no limits.

Join us for this extraordinary showcase and experience the raw elegance, resilience, and spirit of swamp kauri—reborn, reimagined, and Living Again.

Opening night Thursday 17th April 5-7pm.
