Tēnā koutou katoa
This is an exhibition that celebrates the journey of learning together, and the creative process to develop a unique kaupapa Māori collaborative exhibition project for Matariki.
Participating students range from 6yrs to 13yrs old, between FAIRHAVEN Primary and FAIRHAVEN Intermediate Specialist School students, alongside ngā ākonga of TAMATEA Intermediate School Te Rūmaki Reo o Rongokako.
Throughout the journey this has provided a platform of shared knowledge, making new friendships, kōrero te reo Māori, mihi, karakia, waiata, te iwa o Matariki, harakeke weaving, painting and mixed media mahi toi within a safe environment to express creativity with the opportunity to learn new skills under the guidance of Corrina Heke-Mayes, Fairhaven teachers Nicolene Van Dyk and Carla Gardiner with their support staff.
