Creative Arts Napier is proud to announce a major exhibition of modern artist, June Wayne
June Wayne’s artistic career spans an unparalleled 70 years and her innovative lithographs, especially her constant experimentation working with the most important fine art printers in 1950’s Paris and the United States, earned her a reputation as one of the world’s most prolific and sophisticated printmakers. This exhibition is the largest collection of Wayne’s works ever exhibited in the Southern Hemisphere and the most comprehensive display of her work worldwide in over a decade.
It is no surprise that Wayne’s lithography is in the collections of the most important art museums in the world, including the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Bibliotheque national de France (Paris), The National Gallery of Art (Washington D.C.) and The Victoria and Albert Musuem (London).
An exhibition catalogue will be available to purchase which includes all major works in the exhibition, reproduced in full colour with a readable accompanying text following the works in chronological order. A limited number of collectible posters accompanying the exhibition will also available to purchase from CAN.
All exhibition works are signed, original limited-edition lithographs, many with unique provenance, markedly raising their collectible value and making each work an important addition to the portfolio of discerning collectors of modern art.
A series of in-gallery interactive discussions by the Curator, Dr Adrian Ormsby, on Saturday 13 May at 12 noon and Saturday 27 May at 12 noon , will help viewers and collectors appreciate the complexity, value and historical context of the displayed works.
