This exhibition is a combination of ceramic, stone and colour.

Julia Godfree’s paintings are created with movement and harmony of colour. The subtle abstraction of her land and seascapes and free flowing forms lends itself to the eye always discovering something new within each painting.

The creamy whiteness of Oamaru stone from the South Island of New Zealand is hand sculpted and carved into innovative contemporary art pieces.

Her art pieces make a wonderful addition to any home or exterior gardens.

Julia has returned to Hawke’s Bay after ten years abroad teaching art and selling her artwork in Australia and the Maldives.

Julia’s skills and talent have been put to good use as a set builder and sculptor at the village roadshow studios on the Gold Coast, QLD. Working on the movie set for Thor: Ragnarok, Aquaman and Dora the Explorer.

Julia’s professional career spans over 40 years. Throughout this time she has concentrated her skills primarily on her passions which are painting and sculpting. Her paintings have utilized graphite pencil, pastel, water colour, gouache, acrylic, oils, ink and resin. Her sculptural work includes both ceramic and stone but always with an emphasis on using the finest materials.

Her contemporary stone sculptures have been created with a difference sometimes adding carved wood inlays greenstone, metals, ceramic and hand-blown glass.

Unique original design and rich use of colour feature in all of Julia’s artwork.

Julia has a long history of solo and group exhibitions and her work is found in corporate and private collections around the world.
