Joan Hay
A Collection of Watercolour Landscapes
Date: Mar 1 – Mar 31Space: Foyer
Joan Hay’s second exhibition at CAN has a focus on abstract landscapes that inspire familarity. Napier based watercolour artist Joan loves working with watercolours. Previously an avid potter, after many years of hankering to paint she finally put brush to paper and quickly became an avid painter! Inspired by so many wonderful artists, Joan has shown and sold work through local galleries and in the Manawatu.
“I have steered away from using the conventional brush and instead used a variety of other tools to create these works, I enjoy painting this way as it allows me freedom to create and adapt as the painting develops. Often without a particular “picture” in mind, the movement of the paint can dictate where to take the landscape next. However, it is surprising how often people say to me “that reminds of …” somewhere they have been or seen. I hope you enjoy these paintings as much as I did painting them for this exhibition.”
Joan’s work will be available to view and purchase from the foyer at CAN throughout March 2023
