When Franki James arrived in New Zealand at the turn of the century, she wondered how on earth she was going to make the transition from Paris, one of the cultural capitals of the world where she had lived for almost thirty years, to regional Napier. But, as she became involved in the local community, she very quickly came to realise that there was a wealth of talent here in Hawke’s Bay, particularly in music, theatre and art. Consequently, she set about supporting not only local performers but also emerging and established Kiwi artists.

Now in her eighties, she has amassed a collection of around fifty artworks – mainly paintings, but also wood & glass sculptures, embroideries, photographs and ceramics which she would like to share for a worthwhile cause.
