Introduction to Linocut Printmaking
Term 3 evening classes at Keirunga
Date: Jul 29 – Sep 16Space: Keirunga Gardens
CAN Evening Classes have arrived at Keirunga Gardens Creative Hub!
Lino is a printmaking medium suitable for unlimited exploration, so if you want to get experimental, sign up and join in the fun. You can start at the beginning, refresh your skills and/or extend them and go at your own pace. This series of evening classes will take place in the Frank Bacon Studio at KEIRUNGA GARDENS CREATIVE HUB in Puflett Rd, Havelock North, and we can’t wait to get started!
Tutor Cate Godwin will carefully guide you through the process of relief printmaking using lino over a series of 8 evening classes. The first few weeks will introduce you to the technique, printing in one colour and experimenting with inks, papers and backgrounds. This will flow on to trying out the ‘reduction’ technique of printing a multi-coloured print edition from one block. If time allows, you can also try out the method of using more than one block to create an edition of multi-coloured registered prints.
Use of the CAN tools, the Keirunga Printmakers press, your first piece of lino and inks are included. You will eventually need to bring paper suitable for printing on, which will be discussed at the first class. Extra lino will be available to purchase through the tutor at $7 a piece.
As full instruction of every class starts promptly at 6.30pm, please arrive to each class with a few minutes to spare.
