Tuesday mornings at Creative Arts Napier are filled with happiness and talent as the men and woman of Helen Dyne’s painting group gather to work on their diverse collective of outstanding canvases.

This group exhibition shows work from 11 artists who meet weekly to paint with tutor Helen Dynes of StudioD.

The range of styles, subject matter and use of media varies as widely as the individuals who are willing to offer their personal art pieces for you to view.  There is a certain vulnerability attached to ‘baring the soul’ in this way and I believe this speaks to the innate human need for self-expression and creativity.

Thank you to all the participants, from beginners to the more experienced painters, for collaborating this way.  I have enjoyed working with everyone this year at CAN, our happy place!

Some pieces are NFS as these are either transcription pieces for personal development, illuminating an understanding of composition, colour, painting techniques etc, or, they have become a personal treasure that the creator cannot part with.

Of special mention, are two paintings by our dear friend Ros Keiran, who passed away last year, and who we fondly remember.  The proceeds from these will go towards Ros’s nominated charitable cause.
