Date: Feb 1 – Feb 28Space: Foyer
Inspired by her garden and the world around her and seen through an impressionist view Denise Gordon shows her oil paintings all enhanced with strong colours and brush strokes.
Born in the Wairarapa Denise lived good part of her life there. This is where art began for her. At a turning point at the age of 35 Denise went back to school and did a 2 year certificate in art, fibre, fashion and design, finishing the course with distinction.
From there Denise came to The Bay earning a bachelor of Visual Art and Design at EIT. Next it was off to live in Wellington where she lived for six years. She worked as a practising artist during this time exhibiting in galleries and entering many competitions including Telecom Art Awards, Nelson Wearable Arts. At Nelson Wearable Arts she won the ‘Pacific Paradise’ section and also exhibited in wineries in The Bay. After a late OE in London for four years, Denise and her partner Kevin have come home to New Zealand and are calling Napier home.
Denise’s paintings are on display at Creative Arts Napier during the month of February.
