‘Colour My Blooms’ John Lancashire

Nuit Blanche Interactive Art Installation

Date: Oct 15 – Oct 19Space: Main Gallery

Visit CAN during Nuit Blanche and celebrate spring by taking part in ‘Colour My Blooms’, a fun interactive family event featuring renowned Napier artist and personality John Lancashire.

John will work away to complete a large-scale drawing on paper over several days leading up to Nuit Blanche, on the floor of the Main Gallery. It will fill the entire space and feature the iconic flowers, swans and foliage that he is so well known for.

The doors to the Main Gallery will be flung open at 6pm on Saturday 15 October, and you will be welcomed in to tiptoe across the drawing and help John colour it in for a small koha.  After the event the floor mural masterpiece will stay in place for another 4 days until the following Wednesday, so you can return to see how the colouring in has progressed… or do some more!

While you’re here, enjoy taking selfies with the CAN Furry Squad, a loveable bunch of friendly costume characters that will frolic around CAN for the evening. Refreshments will be available to purchase, while you take a wander through the current exhibitions by regional artists.

Also known as ‘The Monday Painter’ on Instagram, Napier artist John Lancashire has exhibited consistently over the last decade or more, gathering a loyal base of paint enthusiasts. He was also this year’s featured artist for the Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction and raised $20,000 for Cranford Hospice.
