In the Shade
by Ajna Souljah
Date: Mar 20 – Apr 2Space: Small Gallery
A collection of works created throughout a time when life very much felt like a waiting game, like sitting in the shade under a tree, watching the world go by.
“An exploration of light and shade, mysticism and realism, this body of work reflects the quiet revelation that the deepest truths and greatest beauty are found in the space between.”
Ajna Imogene Souljah is a Waipukurau-based artist whose practice explores both the physical and mystical realms through acrylic paint. Her work is formed intuitively and is characterised by its fluid surrealism and conceptual images.
Through experiment and responsive design, Ajna invites viewers to form their own unique interpretations of the subtle narratives and suggestions within each work.
