Terry Fowler

Recent works

Date: Nov 23 – Dec 6Space: Small Gallery

This is Terry Fowler’s second exhibition at the CAN with new pieces using new layouts and different construction methods. Some of these pieces have taken over 100 hours of work.

The materials used are radiata pine, recycled timbers, with wood stain or acrylics and a lacquer finish.

Terry is a cabinet maker and has worked with wood all his life whether as furniture or art.

At 16 Terry began work in his father’s Hastings business and he still works 8 or 9 hours a day on his wood, craft and art.

He never works from photos, but prefers to sketch his ideas roughly before carving.

Most of his craftworks are sold overseas e.g. one going to a Missionaries Centre in California for their diamond jubilee. And in 1990 his sculptures were sent to members of the International Olympic Association in Switzerland.
