Date: Aug 18 – Sep 7Space: Main Gallery
Joeke De Vries’ most recent works are small tablets using mixed media, hot beeswax and cold wax techniques.

“ Certain places try to tell us something,
Or have said something we should not have missed,
Or are about to say something,
This imminence of a revelation
Which does not occur is, perhaps,
The aesthetic phenomenon. “ (J.L.Borges)
Other works are responses to landscape, visits to Venice, Barcelona and the Volcanic Plateau in the North Island; colours, textures, pigments and rocks.
Joeke was born in Holland in 1954 and moved to New Zealand in 1986, and has held regular exhibitions since 1991 of water colours, pastels, oils and acrylic paintings.
