Pen & Ink
Small works by Dali Susanto
Date: Jul 2 – Jul 31Space: Foyer
Dali Susanto lives in Hawkes Bay, but originates from Indonesia. His large canvases and works on 3D are a heady mix of in-your-face colour and dynamic design, inspired by his cultural background, relationships and family. Dali’s parents and other family members own Batik galleries and he grew up surrounded by artists. He was named after Salvador Dali in hope that he would follow along the same footsteps and become an artist.
Dali produces bold paintings and designs, usually using acrylics. For the month of July, Dali’s micro-exhibition features smaller works in pen & ink, affordably priced at just $85 each.
Since moving to New Zealand in 2007 Dali’s career as an artist has taken off and he has held several exhibitions in Hastings and Napier, as well as in the Taupo Museum. He also paints murals, and intends to continue growing and expanding as an artist, and is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
