Work by local artist Judith Aitken
Date: Jul 31 – Aug 31Space: Foyer
Judith Aitken is a local artist who has been painting for 30 years.
Born in Masterton, she lived in Auckland and UK before settling in Hastings in 2005, currently working in an insurance brokers office in Napier as an administrator. She is married with 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
Jude has exhibited her paintings in Auckland, Cornwall, Edinburgh, Napier, Hastings and Palmerston North.
Her artistic talents stems from her paternal grandfather, Herbert Ward Thompson, with her father Onslow directing his artistic abilities as a draughtsman and her half-brother Ramon Ward-Thompson being a successful oil painting artist in Sydney.
Jude’s a keen photographer and paints from photos in pastels, watercolours and acrylic, specialising in pastels drawing people, pets & cars. She especially has a predilection for cats and nudes. When painting people she prefers to convey an emotion, rather than simply a portrait.
Judith’s strong artistic nature loves to do all things creative, doing various crafts, gardening, sewing, decorating and loves to entertain frequently. She also enjoys doing wedding & portrait photography from time to time.
Please join Judith to celebrate the opening of her exhibition, Friday 31 July, 5-7pm. All welcome!
Examples of her handiwork can be found on her Jude Art facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/JudeArtPhotographyArtwork/
