Our micro-exhibition for the month of August will celebrate the work of emerging local artist Lynette Holschier.
Lynette always wanted to be an artist when she grew up. Along life’s journey she discovered something she didn’t know… that she already was an “Artist”.
Lynette lost her dear father a couple of years ago, and her mother was diagnosed with dementia, so went into a special care unit. Despite usually enjoying arts and crafts Lynette couldn’t pick up another brush that year. She instead discovered something much more magical, coloured pencils.
Lynette instantly fell in love with this medium, the humble pencil that is now no longer humble. She finds these magic little sticks of pure pigment encased in wood, bound in a binder of oil or wax a sheer delight to use. They transport Lynette to a happy place where she can create a fusion of drawing and painting. As a self confessed control freak, Lynette admits that she is completely under their spell.
Meet Lynette and see her at work on her live demo days at the CAN: Saturday 5 August and Saturday 19 August, 11am – 3pm in our workshop area.
