Date: Aug 1 – Aug 31Space: Foyer

Born and educated in Wellington, Lorraine has been has been painting for over 40 years in Hawkes Bay and overseas. When Lorraine first started painting seriously, she worked in oils, but the slow drying time frustrated her.

After attending Napier Girls High School as an adult student for 2 years and with the guidance of the Art teacher Sue McMillian, Lorraine changed to acrylics. She then went on to complete a Diploma in Early Years Education and has been able to use her artistic skills in her work.

Lorraine has had 4 solo exhibitions and has sold work at major exhibitions and at Statements Gallery in Napier. She was previously a co-operative member of the Lucknow Gallery and in 1997 won an award at the Norsewear Art Exhibition. She has also won the Napier Art Club Rose Bowl award.

In 1999 Lorraine and her husband Paul, went to live and work in the UK for 5 years. They lived in Auckland for 6 years before returning to Central Hawkes Bay. Lorraine has been a member of the Otane art Group since 2011.

Now retired, they live in an olive grove near Otane where she has a small studio. Lorraine enjoys colour, design and working in acrylics and mixed media.

As an artist/crafter she especially enjoys experimenting with methods of applying paint and trying new ideas.
