Introduction to Linocut for Beginners
Saturday Printmaking Classes
Date: Jul 28 – Aug 11Space: Workshop
Suitable for absolute beginners to printmaking, lino block printing is a great place to start! It’s also a medium suitable for exploration if you’re not a total beginner, so don’t be shy to sign up and join in the fun.
(Following this course, we will be running another 3 week Saturday morning class in Reduction Lino, where you can extend the skills you learn on this course, and print in more than one colour!)
Tutor Lisa Feyen will guide you through the process over a short series of 3 workshops, that will cover everything from where to look for inspiration, how to prepare your block, to using the CAN etching press to print your limited edition!
Learn how to select, design and prepare a suitable image, transfer it to lino and carve your image into the block using lino cutting tools. We will be printing a small edition on paper, as we do it learning how to ink your block, register your paper using a template, and work a press.
Use of the CAN tools and press, inks and paper are included. There will be a small charge for the lino.
As full instruction of every class is given promptly at 10am, please arrive to each class on time. We will be working with A5 (148mm x 210mm) lino blocks, so if you want to prepare some images beforehand, use this size as a guideline. Preparation beforehand is not essential however.
