Da-Yoon Song is an 18 years old talented emerging artist from Napier. She has been drawing and painting since the age of 12 but didn’t take it seriously until last year. Since then she has been exploring a range of media, including oil, acrylic, watercolour and gouache. As Da-Yoon is still in a development phase, she does not have a particular media that she prefers to use over others.
Da-Yoon likes to paint street scenes or landscapes, influenced by artists like Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Joseph Zubukvic and Alvaro Castagnet. She started with a realistic style but recently has started to experiment with alternative styles that are more abstract and loose.
Da-Yoon’s ultimate goal is to capture the atmosphere of a place, conveying the feelings that she experiences while viewing the scene that she is painting. Her exhibition will be on show in the foyer at Creative Arts Napier for the month of October.
